Concept of the set: give the audience a look behind the walls and curtains, and in the houses that surround the squares (brink). Televisions are used to show thoughts and dreams, as karaoke monitor and to color the scene according to the emotions. The construction is more or less around the audience to make them feel like they are sitting on a "brink" in between the action.
from the archive of Enschede: a picture taken about 1960, the time of the play. This is a typical Brink: houses surround a square with a playground and a bench where the mothers are supposed to watch their playing children.
this is how it looks now.
Closed curtains at night. This would be transformed into the set. The house front wall would be presented by curtains that could be opened easily. The televisions (left over from Part Two) would comment, illuminate or subtitle and are also natural part of the interiors of the houses.
